ResidencesIt is possible to apply for an Independent Residency or for a Thematic Residency in both locations, Villa Adriana in Danigarci or Spazio Arké in Palermo. The residency is open to writers from all fields of any age, sex and nationality who wish to immerse themselves in their own individual research and to develop a fiction or non-fiction book, academic article, literary essay, screenplay, opera libretto, theatrical and musical production, etc.
During the residency, researchers are encouraged to collaborate in activities that involve students and professors from local academic institutions as well as with the broader international intellectual community present in Palermo, a city noted for hosting numerous festivals and international research programs.Independent Residences:
Candidates for the Independent Residency at Villa Adriana in Danigarci or Spazio Arké in Palermo are invited to submit an independent research or writing project which entails research in Sicily. While candidates are free to propose any form of independent research or writing, it is important that the topic reflects issues relevant to the region or directly relates to Sicily, according to the guidelines as indicated in the Call for Applications.

The International Studies for Sicily are organizing Thematic Residences for the period April - November 2020, during which residents can work on their individual writing and research projects in mutual dialogue.
Candidates for the Thematic Residency at Villa Adriana in Danigarci or Spazio Arké in Palermo are invited to submit a research or writing project which entails research in Sicily and that adheres to the theme provided in the guidelines as indicated in the Call for Applications.
The theme of the first SIS thematic residency, April – July 2020 is: Politics of Emancipation
